Silkscreen or DVD Packaging!
The CD silkscreen process
starts with a nylon mesh screen. This mesh is usually between
240 and 400 lines per inch.
- This screen is first coated with a
light-sensitive emulsion.
- The positive film is put on top of
the screen under a large glass and a vacuum motor removes
all of the air from the chamber.
- The film and screen are then exposed
to Ultraviolet light, which results in a thickening or
hardening of the emulsion.
- The screen is then rinsed out with
a solvent, leaving a negative image in the screen
- The screen is put onto the printing
machine and covered with ink
- A rubber squeegee pushes the ink through
the screen image onto the CD surface
